(meets the user‑information requirements of EN 18031‑1:2024, Annex B - Cyber Security)
1. Authentication (B .2 .2 .1)
Linkbox + proves its identity to the Abra Cloud and Abra App with a factory‑installed X.509 device certificate that is unique for every unit.
There is no password or PIN login on the gateway itself.
If the certificate ever needs to be replaced (e.g. after repair) the process is performed automatically by the Abra Cloud and logged in the App.
2. Software & firmware updates (B .2 .2 .2)
Your gateway keeps itself up to date:
| Channel | What happens | Your action |
|---|---|---|
| LTE / Wi‑Fi / Ethernet | The device checks once per day for signed firmware released by Abra. | None – downloads and installs are automatic. |
| During install | The gateway verifies the cryptographic signature before activating new firmware. | The device reboots once; internet data flow resumes automatically. |
| After install | A push notification appears in the Abra App: “Security update <version> successfully installed.” | Review the release notes if you wish. |
If an update fails its integrity check the Linkbox + rolls back to the previous firmware without user intervention.
3. Personal‑data processing (B .2 .2 .3)
The gateway itself stores only two pieces of personal data:
Wi‑Fi network name (SSID) and passphrase – kept locally in encrypted flash so the device can reconnect after power loss.
These data never leave the gateway and are erased instantly when you perform a factory reset.
For everything else (sensor readings routed through the Abra Cloud, account information, retention periods, your rights, etc.) please see our full Privacy Policy: https://support.abralife.com/hc/en-us/articles/Privacy‑Policy.
4. Notification of security‑relevant changes (B .2 .2 .4)
Whenever a change could affect the protection or privacy of your data the Abra App will notify you within seconds. Examples include:
A new firmware version has been installed.
The device certificate has been rotated.
Encryption features have been enabled or disabled.
A secure‑erase (factory reset) has been performed.
Each notification contains:
What changed (e.g. “Firmware 1.6.2 installed”)
Impact on your privacy (only if any)
The same information is logged in Settings ▸ Release Notes in the Abralife app.
5. Reporting security vulnerabilities (B .2 .2 .5)
We operate a coordinated vulnerability disclosure programme.
