This article explains how collective fire alarm functionality works in the Abralife app. Collective fire alarm means that an alert can be sent to the entire building (or a zone) – not just the home where smoke is detected.
The fire alarm works similarly to private alarm handling, but with a few important differences: the alarm can be forwarded to other units, and must be silenced via the portal.
Fire detected in your unit
When smoke is detected in your home, the app will enter alert mode. A red banner will appear at the top of the home screen with the message: Fire alarm.
You should check your home for signs of fire and evacuate if necessary. Learn more here: Private Fire Alarm Handling
Delay forwarding to the rest of the building (zone)
If the alarm is a false alarm (for example, due to cooking), you can delay the alarm from being forwarded to the rest of the building.
Press the smoke detector that is flashing red once. This silences the sound for 10 minutes and delays forwarding of the alarm during that same period.
If smoke is still detected after 10 minutes, the alarm will automatically be forwarded to all units in the same zone.
If you do not press the smoke detector, the alarm will also be forwarded after a predefined time interval (this is set by the building’s board or installer).

Fire detected in another unit or shared area
If smoke is detected in another unit in the building, all homes in the same zone will be alerted. The app will show which unit the alarm comes from (e.g., “H2020”).
Silencing a collective alarm
Once the alarm has been forwarded to the entire building, it cannot be silenced from the app. It must be cleared by a board representative via the portal.
See instructions here: Silencing a collective fire alarm in the Abralife Portal
Important to know
- You cannot silence a collective alarm yourself – only the board can do this via the portal
- Pressing the smoke detector delays the alert by 10 minutes
- If smoke is still detected after 10 minutes, the alarm will be forwarded automatically
- In case of a real fire: evacuate immediately and call emergency services
