Smart energy management optimizes energy consumption both with regard to electricity prices and consumption within an hour, which means you will save money on both your electricity bill and grid rent.
This article describes how to configure Smart Energy Management in the Abralife app. You can find Smart Energy management by tapping on "Routines" in the bottom menu and then tapping on "Smart Energy" in the top menu.
Here you will find an overview of all your devices that can be smart controlled, divided into categories such as water heater, EV charger, and floor heating.
To activate Smart Energy management, tap the button in the top right corner.
After activating Smart Energy management , you need to choose which tariff level you want to optimize towards. Tariff levels are based on how much electricity you want to use at most within an hour. The more electricity you use simultaneously, the more you have to pay in grid rent.
The different levels reflect upper limits for how much electricity you use per hour, making it easier to see where you can save. Note that if you choose a level that is too low compared to your consumption, the system will not be able to keep consumption below the limit.
The tariff levels are as follows:
Level | Consumption per hour | Price (kr/month) |
---|---|---|
Level 1 | 0-2 kWh | ~140 kr/month |
Level 2 | 2-5 kWh | ~230 kr/month |
Level 3 | 5-10 kWh | ~375 kr/month |
Level 4 | 10-15 kWh | ~525 kr/month |
Level 5 | 15-20 kWh | ~675 kr/month |
These prices are indicative and may vary between grid companies. We recommend checking with your grid company for exact prices, as well as examining which level you are on today to see how much you can save by moving down one or more levels. At the bottom of this article, you will find a more detailed explanation of grid rent.
Then select which devices you want to smart control by tapping the button to the right of the device.
Grid Rent
Grid rent is the price you pay to use the electricity grid, and it consists of two parts: the energy component and the capacity component.
- The energy component is calculated based on how much electricity you use in total over a month, and it varies depending on the time of day. For example, it is cheaper to use electricity between 22:00 and 06:00 than during the day. Some grid companies also have different prices for weekdays and weekends.
- The capacity component, sometimes called the fixed component, is calculated based on the three hours in the month when you use the most electricity. The grid company looks at the average of these three hours, and the higher this average is, the higher the level you end up on, and the more you have to pay in grid rent. For example, if your average is between 0-2 kWh, you pay for Level 1. But if your average is higher, for example, between 10-15 kWh, you end up on Level 4, and you pay much more in the capacity component.
