Frient EMI Norwegian HAN is a HAN plug that measures power consumption in real-time. Throughout this article, the device will be referred to as the HAN plug.

Installation

Placement

The HAN plug connects to the HAN port of the electricity meter to function and must therefore be placed near the electricity meter. To enable the connection, the HAN port must be physically opened. This is an action that can only be performed by your utility company. To activate the device's functionality, you must contact your utility company to request the opening of the HAN port. It is important to note that the opening of the HAN port is free of charge and should be performed without additional cost to you as a consumer.

Mounting and Installation Procedure

The HAN plug can be easily attached to the desired surface with the double-sided tape already applied to the back of the device. Start by connecting the HAN cable, which comes with the HAN plug, to the HAN port on your electricity meter. For the exact location of the HAN port, refer to the electricity meter's user manual. Then, clean the surface where the HAN plug will be mounted to ensure that the double-sided tape adheres optimally. If your electricity meter is enclosed in a metal box, the HAN plug can be attached directly to the outside of the metal box. If the electricity meter is installed openly, the HAN plug can be attached directly to the wall next to the electricity meter. Press firmly to ensure the device is securely in place.

When the HAN plug is connected to the HAN port, it will automatically enter pairing mode. This is indicated by the LED on the top of the device blinking red, as illustrated in the image below. After the device has entered pairing mode, it can be connected to Linkbox+.

Adding the HAN Plug to the Abralife App

From the home screen, tap the "+" icon located in the upper right corner. Then select "Add Device" from the menu that appears. Select the type "HAN plug." Then click on "Frient EMI Norwegian HAN" from the list of available devices. Finally, follow the step-by-step instructions displayed in the app to complete the installation.

Troubleshooting

In case of weak signal or connection issues, try placing Linkbox+ closer to the HAN plug to improve communication. If you experience that the HAN plug is not transmitting meter data as expected, the first step is to double-check that the HAN cable is correctly connected to the electricity meter. If the problem persists after verifying the connection, it is recommended to contact your utility company to confirm that the HAN interface on your electricity meter is activated.

Resetting or Restoring Factory Settings

To reset the device to factory settings, follow these steps: Open the cover of the device and locate the reset button. Hold this button down for approximately 14-16 seconds. During this time, the LED will first blink rapidly once, followed by two quick blinks. It will then begin to blink continuously. When this happens, you can release the reset button. This indicates that the device has been reset to factory settings and will now automatically enter pairing mode. See the illustration below to find the reset button, which is marked with an arrow.
