How to remove an Elko Smart smoke alarm from the bracket

When the smoke alarm is first mounted onto the bracket, it may be a bit difficult to remove again. Follow the steps below:

1. Turn the smoke alarm (counterclockwise when looking up at it) until it stops.
2. Insert a thin flathead screwdriver (or similar) into the hole on the black part of the device (angled slightly if needed)
3. Push the screwdriver downward
4. While holding the screwdriver down, continue turning the smoke alarm

Once the smoke alarm has been removed from the bracket, the switch on the back of the device will move to the OFF/AUTO position. This is a normal mode, and the smoke alarm will automatically switch back to active mode once mounted on the bracket again.
