- Press the unit once
- The sound will be muted for 10 minutes
If smoke is still detected after 10 minutes, the sound will start again automatically.
Important to know
- It is not possible to silence the alarm from the app
- If multiple smoke alarms are flashing red, you must press each one individually
In case of an actual fire
If there are signs of fire: Follow your local fire safety instructions, evacuate immediately, and call emergency services.
What if the alarm keeps going off?
If the alarm goes off repeatedly, even after you have silenced it, it is very important to first check for any signs of smoke or fire. If there are none, the alarm may be triggered by something affecting the sensor.
Common causes of false alarms include:
- Steam or cooking fumes from the kitchen
- Humidity from bathrooms
- Dust or other particles near or inside the smoke alarm
If the alarm continues for no clear reason, you can temporarily turn off the smoke alarm by twisting it off the mounting bracket, as described here: How to remove an Elko Smart smoke alarm from the bracket .
Wait a while before reattaching it. The smoke alarm will automatically turn back on when clicked into place on the bracket.
If the alarm starts again after you’ve reinstalled it, please contact Abra customer support for assistance.
