To ensure that your fire alarm system is operating correctly, it is important to perform a functional test periodically. We recommend once pr. month. This article describes how to verify that your fire alarm system is working properly.
1. Verify connection between smoke detectors and Abra
To verify that the fire alarm system is correctly connected to the Abra-cloud, and that emergency alerts will be sent to your emergency contacts, you need to test each of your smoke detectors. A description of how to perform a functional test of your smoke detectors can be found here. When you test a smoke detector and it operates correctly, the app shows your detector’s status as 'Test', as illustrated in the image below.
In addition, the homeowner will receive a push notification and SMS from Abralife informing that everything is functioning as it should. If the homeowner does not receive a push notification and SMS, it may be that your smoke detector does not have contact with the Abra-cloud. Contact Abra support if this happens.
2. Verify Alarm Station Connection (If you subscribe for this service)
If you have activated the alarm station in the app, the homeowner will receive additional push notification and SMS confirming that the connection to the alarm station is successful when you perform the functional test. If you have a subscription that supports the alarm station but the homeowner does not receive a push notification and SMS, check if alarm station is activated in the app. You can find a description of how to activate the alarm station here. If alarm station is activated and the homeowner does not receive push-notification/SMS, contact Abra support for help.
