Abra leakage protection - How does it work?
In multi-family buildings with multiple dwelling units, each unit can have many water connections (sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee machine, etc.) and are vulnerable to leaks and water spills. Without a drain and waterproof membrane, a leak can cause serious damage to floors, walls, and furniture. This also applies to common areas and utility shafts, where leaks can often go undetected for a long time.
With water leak protection from Abra, larger leaks are detected and prevented. The system complies with the Norwegian building regulations for water installations (TEK17 ยง 15-5 - Requirement for automatic leak detection and water shut-off system in wet rooms).
Water is detected by water sensor tape, and the Linkbox+ will automatically close the valve (1/2" or 3/4" mounted on the kitchen water intake) and the water supply. The system alerts the user immediately with sound, light, and push notifications in the Abralife app.
The system also allows residents to control the valve manually (physically or via the app) if necessary (e.g., during longer absences from the home or cabin).
In multi-family buildings, property managers and boards can easily monitor and manage the water safety system for all apartments through the Abralife portal. This contributes to efficient water safety management and a safer living experience for all residents.
The Waterguard valves perform an automatic exercise if they are not used for 7 days. This ensures that the system is always ready to shut off the water in case of an accident.

Abralife Portal |
With the Abralife Portal, the board will easily be able to fulfill safety responsibilities with status per apartment and common areas. Complete overview of which water leak alarms and smoke alarms are connected. |
|
Abralife App |
The Abralife app is your interface to the Abra universe. Here you can do everything from monitoring power consumption to controlling lights and checking the status of water protection. |
|
Linkbox+ (central unit) |
Linkbox+ (central unit) is mounted in a suitable location in the kitchen cabinetry or utility room using the included wall bracket and connected to power via the included adapter. The included CAT6 cable is connected between the central unit and valve, and the central unit |
|
Ball valve 1/2" or 3/4" | The valve is installed by a certified plumber on the kitchen's cold water intake.
Sensortape for water | Self-adhesive sensor tape is connected to the central unit and pulled down under the kitchen carcass and along the floor where water is assumed to collect in case of spills or leaks. It is important that the surface is clean so that the sensor tape adheres well to the substrate!
WaterSensor+ Wireless water sensor | WaterSensor+ is a wireless sensor that registers the presence of water, monitors temperature and humidity, and alerts if risk of frost. If water is detected, the sensor will inform the Linkbox+ and the water supply will immediately be shut off. The users will be notified via a light and sound alarm and a Abralife app push notification. |
Additional information
Before the Linkbox+ (B) is mounted, ensure correct placement based on:
- Distance to the valve (the Cat-cable included is 2 meters long. If not possible to install within 2 meters, the Cat-cable must be replaced with a longer (optional product)
- Distance to power outlet (The power adapter cable is approx. 1,5 meter)
- The coverage area of the Water Sensor Tape (The tape is 3 meter long and should cover the area where the risk of leakage is big)
PS! If the include Water Sensor Tape does not cover the full area (e.g. the kitchen has an kitchen island or the distance between the water-connected products is large), you can add wireless WaterSensor+ or extend the Sensor Tape. See chapter Additional Products and Options below for more information.

Additional products and options
-
- If the included Water Sensor Tape is too short, the Sensor Tape Extension Connector or Sensor Tape Splitter can be used for connection one additional Tape (2 x 3 meter)
- Additional wireless sensors (WaterSensor+) can be added to the system if the Sensor Tape is not sufficient or the user want to measure temperature or humidity in other areas of the home.
- The system can be extended with one additional valve (e.g. kitchen warm water intake) by using a Valve Cable Splitter.
- Linkbox+ can control other smart products and solutions for the home. For more information, visit www.abralife.com
